Avalon Flip Flop Walk

Thanks to everyone who came out on a beautiful but scorching summer morning in Avalon!  We raised over $7400.  Check out the latest fundraising numbers here! You can also donate to this tremendous effort.

To all our donors/walkers, here's where your dollars goes:

Patient Care Services:

• Over 200 Pilates, Yoga, and exercise classes held to improve the quality of life for People with Parkinson's.
• Patient services at Jefferson Hospital to help patients and caregivers navigate and locate local services and resources.
• Mobility equipment to help Parkinson's patients with financial hardships stay mobile and engaged.

 Education and Outreach: 

• Outreach efforts to traditionally under-served communities, patient counseling and healthcare provider programs at the University of Pennsylvania Parkinson's Disease & Movement  Disorder Center.  
• Education for over 200 PD patients, caregivers  and healthcare providers. 

Research:

• Research projects at Jefferson's Farber Institute to: 1) develop reliable and sustainable donor cells to treat Parkinson's;  and 2)  identify novel agents capable of protecting neurons in the brain from Parkinson's disease.
• Funding to support University of Pennsylvania's  Center for Neurodegenerative Disease Research Drug Discovery Program.
